I'm a software engineer with 6+ years of experience across full-stack and backend development, currently working as a freelancer. My background spans web applications, Android apps, and the backend systems that hold them together.
Alongside engineering work, I hold a master's in data science, which pulled me toward applied AI and NLP — particularly the challenge of building language technology for Somali and other low-resource languages, where usable tools and training data are still scarce.
I like practical software: systems that are simple enough to maintain, reliable enough to trust, and built around what the person using them actually needs. I'm comfortable working independently, from scoping a problem through to shipping and supporting the result.
